hd-dvd and blu-ray
they were both there, staring each other down from opposite sides of the central hall at the lvcc. both had theatres, and both had all of their propoganda alongside their booth walls. in the blu-ray camp we had footage of "pirates of the carribean" and in the hd-dvd camp we had "charlie and the chocolate factory." perhaps johnny depp is directly involved in this way.
by the way, blu-ray did a demonstration of "live content updating" which was very impressive. according to the demo, you can watch a film and then a message will pop up to inform you that the film you are watching has additional content that you can download to the hard drive in your player. once there, you can view the video and then return to where you were. interesting although im sure its something that the hd-dvd people will also include.
personally, this is a war i could care less about - the only real loser here will be sony if blu-ray isn't "the chosen one"

dude... you know my feelings on this... we are "the biggest losers" in this scenario...
with a hd tv, all i want to do some nights is sit down and watch a good movie in the best quality that the tv can produce... i cannot believe that in 2005 that we still do not have a high definition storage standard. watching dvd in standard def albeit wide screen drives me crazy.
the only high def stored content i cant watch right now is content that i have dvr'd on my high def channels.
so, which leads me to this point...
the blu-ray and hd-dvd battle might see the two of them go down... with a third contender delivering the fatal blow - video on demand.
